4heads - Governors Island Art Fair

A New York-based non-profit arts group, 4heads specializes in commandeering unused and historic spaces--developing environments for the purpose of exhibition, installation and performance so that artists from all over the world can make use of otherwise dismissed areas.

The desire to structure valuable opportunities for creatives comes in part as a reflection of the founders' own struggles as working artists in NYC. 4heads focuses primarily on encouraging culture by nurturing an evolving community of artists, a true voice of contemporary culture.

Run by artists, for artists, the Governors Island Art Fair rallies an exciting and diverse selection of artists from around the world. Every year, over 100 independent artists are selected on the merit of their work and given a room of their own to create an exhibition environment centered around their individual vision.

4heads' new fair, PORTAL, will be debuting May 2016 in the Federal Hall Memorial Building. Spanning three floors, including the main atrium, 4heads offers space to 40 artists internationally to showcase their talents, while simultaneously honoring the beauty and history of the Federal Hall.

In the spirit of encouraging growth, 4heads also offers an Artist-in-Residence program, holds workshops and partners with local groups for arts education programs.

4heads runs the newly launched PORTAL art fair in Federal Hall, as well as Governors Island Art Fair, New York's largest independent art fair.

4heads was formed by Ernie Sandidge, Nicole Laemmle, Jack Robinson and Antony Zito in early 2008 with the mission of giving new opportunities to the growing community of artists in New York and beyond.

Governors Island Art Fair is open every Saturday and Sunday in September from 11 AM to 6 PM. 4heads offers art workshops and artists' studio residencies beginning in June. http://www.4heads.org

To continually create diverse venues and forums from disused and abandoned spaces for the purpose of presenting, advocating and providing services to artists everywhere.
