Able Community Services and Residences

For most parents of children with disabilities, planning for the future cannot begin soon enough. The transition to adulthood when students are graduating from school can be challenging and frustrating for most families. The educational entitlement that so many parents were used to is no longer available for adults with disabilities.

All of our adults receive hands-on experiences and guidance when accessing community resources and developing job skills at community volunteer sites. These experiences are guided and focused and result in enriched engagement and learning.

Admission Criteria / Eligibility Requirements
An individual can be admitted to the Day Habilitation program if he/she is 18 years of age or older and has been determined by OPWDD to have a developmental disability. Establishment of a disability by OPWDD is based on a diagnosis of intellectual / developmental disability, autism, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, or neurological impairment, and a substantial adaptive behavior deficit.
Individuals whose functional and developmental needs can be met by the program will be admitted. Individuals must be enrolled or eligible for enrollment in the Home and Community Based Services Waiver program. Due to the intense community based activities that the program provides, our program is not equipped to handle individuals that require medication to be administered throughout the day in program.

It is the mission of Able Community Services and Residences to provide adults with disabilities opportunities to enhance their lives.
