Tom Cat Workers Day Without Bread Kick-Off Rally

On March 15th, Tom Cat Bakery received the first I-9 audit issued since 2007, requiring workers to present documentation or be fired. Workers have organized to resist this attack, and call on allies to mobilize in defense of NYC immigrant communities.

Over two dozen hardworking New Yorkers at Tom Cat Bakery could lose their jobs on April 21st because of the Trump administration’s clampdown on immigrants in our city.

These workers, who have baked bread at the Queens factory for as many as 16 years, are deeply rooted in New York City, with children in school.

The workers are calling for the community to show support for immigrant workers by joining a Day Without Bread and rally in front of the Tom Cat Bakery factory from 6-8am this Friday, April 21.

It’s time to stop tearing NYC families apart. Take action to stand in solidarity with the immigrant workers in your community who are challenging Trump's anti-immigrant attack on local bread workers!
