Mayors Against Illegal Guns: How are Mayors Taking Responsibility for Addressing Gun Violence in Their Cities?

It is our pleasure to invite you to a special panel presentation on Thursday, February 9th, at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in the Gerald W Lynch Theater, 524 West 59th Street in Manhattan.

The event, co-sponsored by John Jay College of Criminal Justice and Everytown for Gun Safety. During the panel, which Bill Keller of The Marshall Project will moderate, the following panelists will share their insights into gun violence prevention:

* Mayor Lovely Warren, Rochester, NY
* Mayor Stephanie Miner, Syracuse, NY
* Eric Cumberbatch, New York, NY

This event marks the launch of a John Jay College initiative called America’s Gun Epidemic: A Question of Public Health, Security, and Freedom. The Gun Violence Initiative will explore this issue in depth, using an interdisciplinary approach. We will look at the impact of gun violence on individuals, families, and entire communities – and by extension, the at times divisive politics of how we prevent gun violence while preserving gun rights.
